What if…

I’m so saddened by the horrific crime of hate in Orlando…I think I’m even sadder by the outrage of hate and anger towards others, the blame and criticism, the fear I see and read in the faces of so so many…my heart breaks for the families and loved ones of the victims…so many mothers, fathers, daughters and sons, so many lives forever changed.  We lost our oldest son to cancer in 2003, it was the most life changing event of my life and as devastating as it was, we had many months to prepare our hearts, make wishes known and say our farewells.  The families of these victims didn’t get a planning period.  I pray for peace for them and all of us…

Below is the most re-pinned quote on my pinterest site…there have been more today than any other day, ever.   It lightens my heart a bit to know there are so many people hanging on to this quote of togetherness…

“What if our religion was each other.  If our practice was our life. What if the temple was the Earth. If forests were our church. If holy water—was the rivers, lakes, and ocean. What if the teacher was Life. If wisdom was self-knowledge. If Love was the center of our being.

what if

it also reminds me of a song from long ago…

Put a Little Love In Your Heart

Think of your fellow man
Lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
You see it’s getting late
Oh, please don’t hesitate
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
For you and me
You just wait and see

Another day goes by
Still the children cry
Put a little love in your heart
If you want the world to know
We won’t let hatred grow
Put a little love in your heart

And the world (and the world) will be a better place
All the world (all the world) will be a better place
For you (for you)
And me (and me)
You just wait (just wait)
And see, wait and see

Take a good look around
And if you’re looking down
Put a little love in your heart
I hope when you decide
Kindness will be your guide
Put a little love in your heart

And the world (and the world) will be a better place
And the world (and the world) will be a better place
For you (for you)
And me (and me)
You just wait (just wait)
And see

People, now put a little love in your heart
Each and every day
Put a little love in your heart
There’s no other way
Put a little love in your heart
It’s up to you
Put a little love in your heart
C’mon and  Put a little love in your heart!

  1. Thank you for sharing your heart, SweetM!
I share in your feelings concerning Orlando…our world…especially the families. I pray with you.
Love that quote and that song. Both perfect for today, and the days ahead.
My Mom lost children from cancer. One of my brothers lost a daughter in a car accident. Another brother lost a son to suicide. I watched what they went through. Still go through all these years later.
I say that, to say this, I am so sorry for your great loss of your son. You have my heart and my prayers. (I remember you talking about him on Xanga, and then about his battle and death.)

  2. I heard on the radio today that there is a memorial to be formed with input from the whole community. Hopefully there can be some good come from this evil. If the act of violence and hate can bring people together in generosity, forgiveness, acceptance and love then those lives lost will not have been for naught.
